The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) has intensified training of all cadres of staff for critical skills development and capacity building for optimal performance.
The training program, which covers various aspects of technology acquisition, Information Technology (IT) fundamentals, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Database Management System, Strategic Leadership, Ethics, Policy making trainings, innovation, and organizational development, aims to enhance staff capacity to promote technology transfer and development in Nigeria.
The Director General of NOTAP, Dr. Obiageli Amadiobi, while addressing the staff before embarking on the training programmes, emphasized the organization’s commitment to excellence and its determination to build a highly skilled and motivated workforce. She noted that the training programmes are part of NOTAP’s efforts to invest in its staff and ensure that they are equipped to drive the organization’s mandate.
The DG stated that the training programme started with the junior staff, which included those in the driving and mechanic section, where all the drivers in the Office were trained and given copies of the Highway Code as their reference book while performing their duties. She added that the Office will continue with the training as the importance of training of Officers cannot be overemphasized.
The training was also extended to the management staff whereby two directors participated in the Course 15, jointly organized by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru Jos, and the Leadership and Professional Ethics Consult, took place from 25th to 29th of August, 2025.
In a Press Statement made available by Raymond Onyenezi Ogbu of the Public Relations and Protocol unit of the Office, the NOTAP boss reiterated that the various staff trainings will yield several benefits for NOTAP including improve staff knowledge of the best practices in intellectual property management and technology commercialization, enhance capacity to support technology acquisition and development as well as ensure better service delivery to stakeholders and clients.
She noted that the intensified NOTAP’s staff training programme is a testament to the organization’s commitment to excellence and its determination to drive national development through technology acquisition and innovation. “We look forward to a more productive and efficient workforce that can deliver high-quality services to our stakeholders”.
According to one of the participants in the leadership training, and a Director of Information Communication Technology (ICT) of NOTAP, Engr. Ifeanyi Ebeku, the programme was designed to strengthen participants’ capacity for ethical, strategic, and visionary leadership across national, sub-national, and private sector levels.
He noted that the training programme critically examined prevailing leadership practices that have not significantly advanced national development and encouraged a gradual but sustainable transformation in leadership orientation and policy formulation. He added that they were exposed to the highly practical, pragmatic, and thought-provoking sessions supported by case studies, which emphasized the urgency of fostering ethical leaders as agents of national rebirth and systemic paradigm shift.
