Amadiobi Stresses Importance of Regulatory Compliance

September 24, 2025

The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), Dr. Obiageli Amadiobi, emphasized the importance of regulatory compliance during a courtesy visit by the management staff of Globacom to NOTAP’s corporate headquarters in Abuja.

Dr. Amadiobi announced that NOTAP will soon commence enforcement of Technology Transfer Registration on companies that have refused to register their technology transfer agreements with the Office. She noted that some companies in Nigeria, including those in the financial, oil and gas, telecommunications, and gaming industries, have been avoiding registration, thereby depriving the nation of revenue and encouraging capital flight.

The DG stated that a team of enforcement committee comprising officers from NOTAP, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will soon take action against non-compliant companies, following a three-month moratorium granted for total compliance.

The leader of the visiting team, and divisional head North, Mr. Sarafa Kolowale, assured Dr. Amadiobi that Globacom, as an indigenous telecommunications company, will strictly adhere to regulatory rules. He expressed appreciation for NOTAP’s efforts in promoting indigenous technology and domesticating foreign technologies.
