October 3, 2025

The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) has been recognized as the Best Performing Government Agency of the year by Governance Today.

The Director General of NOTAP, Dr. Obiageli Amadiobi, while receiving the award on behalf of the office expressed joy for attracting such honour in less than two years of her stewardship as the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NOTAP.

Dr. Amadiobi said that NOTAP is a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, saddled with the mandate to regulate technology transfer, promote indigenous technology development, and enhance Nigeria’s technological capabilities.

She described the award as a testament to NOTAP’s commitment to promoting indigenous technologies, innovation, and economic growth through its numerous developmental projects and programmes.

Dr. Amadiobi expressed gratitude to Governance Today for the award, adding that the recognition will spore the staff to be more committed, dedicated, and strive for more accolades.

The DG acknowledged that under her leadership, the office has made significant strides in promoting technology transfer, commercialization, and indigenous technology development.

She reiterated the readiness and commitment of the Office in collaborating with sister institutions and the media in ensuring the development of critical sectors of the Nigerian economy through information dissemination and strategic synergy.

“We are humbled by this recognition. We thank our stakeholders for their support. We will continue to promote innovation and technology development for national growth as this award acknowledges NOTAP’s efforts in driving national development, she noted.

While conferring the award on NOTAP, the Chairman of Governance Today News Magazine, Dr. Sylvester Omose said the media company is an offshoot of the African Independent Good Governance Monitoring Network.

According to Dr. Omose, Governance Today is one of the most authoritative News Magazines available online on all the social media platforms for the political, business, professional and diplomatic elite and broader middle classes while serving as a meeting point of new ideas, cultural and technology.

He said that the management of the media organization closely monitored the activities of NOTAP and how the Director General is strategically driving the technology development of the Country through the establishment Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Offices (IPTTOs) as well as the NOTAP-Industry Technology Transfer Fellowship (NITTF) initiatives.

Dr. Omose emphasized that Governance today is an organization that critically exams public governance in Nigeria and holds leaders accountable. He added that the organization fishes out credible, transparent and result-oriented leaders to appreciate them and challenge those not meeting up to the expectation to brace-up.

He said that the award on NOTAP is purely based on merit, having conducted an online search on government agencies that are performing well and NOTAP was massively nominated.
